On a bright sunny, summer day, Maryellen and I were walking along the beach.
"Man, I'm hungry," I told Ellie.
"I am too," She replied. My nose picked up hints of a fruity smoothie, which made my stomach growl.
"Hey, do you smell that?" I asked.
"Yeah! I think it's coming from that fruit stand over there!" Ellie pointed to a small stand with a line of about 5 or 6 people. We immediately walked over there without discussing, as if our stomachs were in control instead of our brains. By the time we got there, the line had vanished.
"Welcome to Bahia Berry, may I take your order?" The girl behind the counter said as dully as if she had said a million times. Her expression reminded me of a robot.
"Hey Ellie, wanna get some juice?" I asked, eyeing the cooler full of ice and drinks.
"Sure!" She replied.
I grabbed mango, and Ellie went for guava juice. We put them on the counter.
"Five dollars please." The girl behind the counter stuck out her hand. I reached into my pocket.
"Oh No! NO!! Ellie, please tell me you have cash!" I started to panic.
"Um, does 2 dollars count as cash?" She flashed me a nervous smile.
"Yes, but not enough." I directed my attention to the girl behind the counter.
"Please! We are REALLY hungry, and an hour's walk away from any other food or hydration." She rolled her eyes. I admit, I was a little over dramatic, but it did the trick.
"FINE!" she stuck out her hand again. This time Maryellen handed her the 2 dollars. We grabbed our drinks, and took a couple sips.
Then, the girl shut the stand up and put up the CLOSED sign.
"Leah, you need to start carrying cash with you. You don't want to get caught in another situation like this!!" Ellie reprimanded me.
"I don't really have cash." I mumbled.
"So, you're broke!?"
"Almost, yeah"
"You should get a summer job." I noticed a sign on one of the shudders.

"What about this?" I point to the sign.
"That would be perfect for you, Leah!" Ellie replies.
As soon as I get home, I apply for the job online. Amy told me to come in two days later, on Monday for the real review.
